ABOUT
Hi, I'm Tom.
Two Shops Woodworking all started 7 years ago when I was living in Virginia Beach and wanted a set of corn hole boards without spending a ton of money. A buddy of mine and I went to Lowes, bought some of the cheapest material available, the cheapest jig saw they sold, came home and got building.
Between a case of beer and some highly questionable math we made probably what was the ugliest set of corn hole boards ever made, but they worked!
too much time on my hands...
Six or so years ago, I was in between jobs, living at home and let's just say I had a LOT of free time on my hands. I had always been pretty handy with tools, but didn’t really own many of my own.. I owned a Walmart corded drill and that same dirt cheap jig saw.
I was messing around in the basement and used some scrap wood laying around to build a couple shelves and a wine rack. I would just search Pinterest and began building based off of pictures I found. Most of my projects turned out pretty ugly, and were quite laughable.
but...
completely obsessed
I literally became obsessed and engrossed by the process. With every project I found myself taking on bigger challenges. I would spend hours on the internet looking for tips and pointers. Each project started to look a little better, but I still had a long way to go.
Over the course of the next several years, I found myself spending hours on the phone with one of my old fraternity brothers, Sam. Sam had a tremendous amount of woodworking experience and I learned a ton from him. As my work got better and better eventually the end products began to look like I actually knew what I was doing. With every ounce of improvement I felt the addiction getting stronger.
the brand.
Eventually Sam and I decided to go into business together, Two Shops Woodworking. Two shops standing for the two shops that we operated out of our homes, and also our first initials, T and S.
The Business grew day by day. Both of us were working other full time jobs so to keep up with the orders. There were countless nights of 3 or 4 hours of sleep. But none of that mattered because we loved what we were doing. It was "work" for us. Ever. Sam unfortunately is no longer with us, but Two Shops exist with out him and he will always be apart of what we're doing here.
the future.
Each project still seems to get just a little better each time. And that will be a goal of mine forever, to never stop improving. I use the absolute highest quality materials available for my products, and simply refuse to cut any corners. I remember what the first few things I build looked like and I will strive to improve every day for the rest of time. We are constantly advancing our processes, perfecting our craft, and rolling out new products.
If you made it this far, thank you :)
